Paco de Lucía – A Tribute

A short tribute to the passing of a phenomenal artist:

Paco de Lucía

Paco de Lucía (21 December 1947 –  25 February 2014).

An astoundingly brilliant Spanish guitarist, composer and producer; a musical innovator – revolutionary and leader in the development of Nuevo Flamenco (‘New Flamenco’) and its fusion of flamenco with other styles of music including jazz, Latin, Middle Eastern and rock.

I don’t need to tell you any more about Paco de Lucía or his long discography of beautiful music spanning five decades, do I?

His contributions to and influence within flamenco history, music history generally, and human history (since we’re the ones experiencing and being affected by his music)…are more profound than I dare try to express.

The most I’ll do is post some Paco de Lucía music to show my respect and thanks to him for the countless musical gifts he gave us during his lifetime.  All of them will remain with us forever after.

Here are 2 tracks from Calle Real – one of many collaborations between he, Camarón de la Isla and Tomatito.
